There is no such thing as being too nice. People can only take advantage of you when you give them the advantage. Be yourself, don’t allow people that don’t matter to you to change you. When you allow irrelevant people to inspire relevant changes, you’re moving backwards. Learn to deal with people on an individual basis. Don’t assume that all men/women are the same just because the men/women you dealt with were similar. When somebody does something to you, handle it with them. Everybody shouldn’t have to take on the hell one person created. If people constantly take your kindness for weakness, it’s probably because your kindness isn’t genuine. People take advantage of fake things because they’re disposable, but when something is real, people take care of it, not advantage of it. It’s foolish to think you can trust everybody but it’s even more foolish to believe that nobody is trustworthy. Learn to recognize the snakes and be smart enough to realize that everybody isn’t one. If you can group all the people in your life into the same category then you have the wrong people in your life. If you want happiness, get around some happy people. Changing the people around you can really change the things inside you.
