Valley of Fire

Valley of Fire, originally uploaded by Darius Goins.
The Valley of Fire derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs, 150 million years ago. Complex uplifting and faulting of the region, followed by extensive erosion, have created the present landscape. Other important rock formations include limestones, shales, and conglomerates. Prehistoric users of the Valley of Fire included the Basket Maker people and later the Anasazi Pueblo farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley. The span of approximate occupation has been dated from 300 B.C. to 1150 A.D. Their visits probably involved hunting, food gathering, and religious ceremonies, although scarcity of water would have limited the length of their stay. Fine examples of rock art left by these ancient peoples can be found at several sites within the park.

R.I.P Daddy, the GOAT pitbull (Redman and Cesar Millan’s dog)

I’m a big fan of the Nat-Geo show “The Dog Whisperer,” and Cesar Millan’s training partner Daddy, the pitbull. If you’ve ever watched the show, Millan would send in Daddy to calm the most frenetic spazztic, even dangerous dog client. Amazing to watch. And even more amazing because Daddy was originally a bad-apple himself, owned by Redman, and given up to Cesar because he was too unruly…at 4-months old!
According to reports, 16 yr old Daddy passed away over the weekend, after beating cancer once, and after mentoring his own protege, a blue-nose pit named Junior

Cesar Millan has set up Daddy’s Emergency Animal Rescue Fund, to help dogs who are victims of abuse, violence or disaster. You can donate here.

869-GIRL

869-GIRL, originally uploaded by Darius Goins.

This is mobile advertising at its best here in Vegas. These guys drive up & down the strip all day & night promoting some of these services. But don't get it confused, prostitution is NOT LEGAL in Clark County Nevada, aka Las Vegas. It's a fine line on the issue, no money exchange for sexual activities. Most of these promotions are for escort services, which after the fact, you know what it is once they get to your room or location.
Just be careful is all i can say.....Would be rather sad to come out & end up on Las Vegas Cops edition for trying to buy some A$$! lol....

Stairway to......

My Music

My Music, originally uploaded by Darius Goins.
This is a shot i took of some equipment i have in the lab. I still use my MPC 2000XL as the brain of my music operation. I know many that upgraded from the 2000 to the 2500 or 4000. For some reason i couldn't let mines go. It's one that I will probably always keep to be honest.

RIP Bertha L. Goins (Grandmother) 6 years Today

This will probably be the most symbolic picture that i will ever post on flickr. This photo is about the memory versus the technical aspects of photography. I could care less about framing, perspective or anything else in this shot. This is a shot of me and my grandmother the night before she passed on Feb 10, 2004.

My grandmother passed away from breast cancer and fought that battle for a few years. She put up a tough fight till the last days.. I remember she was more worried about the family and how everyone would be and she was the one going through the fight.

She was one of the most influential women in my life, the one that taught me a lot of my core values that i stand strong & believe in to this day. She is my inspiration, drive & motivation as to why i strive for greatness & refuse to accept anything less from myself or anyone else around me.

Today, February 10, 2010 makes 6 years since her physical depart.

Rest In Peace Grams, from your grandson! Love ya always!
